Gemini App Update: New Chat Page Redesign & Bigger Icon on iOS! (2026)

Bold shift in Gemini’s chat design: sharing moves to the forefront, and the iconography changes up the UI.

Gemini for Android has introduced tweaks to the chat page that elevate sharing actions and the overflow menu as primary options.

In the previous layout, Gemini conversations centered on the chat title in the top bar, and tapping it opened a bottom sheet with various options. The top-right corner housed a dedicated New Chat button.

The new design repositions the title to the left, places the New Chat button beside it, and immediately follows with a Share action that instantly generates a link and launches the system sheet. The traditional three-dot overflow button remains for quick access to actions like Pin, Rename, Delete, Help, and Feedback.

Old vs. new

The updated setup adopts a more conventional and familiar pattern than the old downward-carets, but it risks feeling cluttered, especially with the hamburger icon occupying the opposite side. A potential improvement would be moving the Share option into the three-dot menu to streamline the header.

Interestingly, the side-by-side Share and overflow icons appear on gemini.google.com as well, though they’re not present in Gemini for iOS.

On the iPhone and iPad front, a recent update to the Google Gemini app (version 1.2026.0570001) appears to have expanded the Gemini spark’s footprint. The larger spark now sits closer to the edge of the rounded square, aligning more closely with other Google app aesthetics.
