A serious traffic incident has left six individuals hospitalized following a collision involving a truck and several cars near Wollongong, New South Wales.
Just after midday on January 7, 2026, emergency services were summoned to the crash site located near Mount Keira Road in Cataract. Paramedics evaluated a total of 13 people at the scene, highlighting the scale of the accident.
Among the injured, a man in his thirties was airlifted to Liverpool Hospital in critical condition, underscoring the severity of the situation. Additionally, five other individuals sustained injuries that, while serious enough to require medical attention, are not considered life-threatening.
As a result of the accident, Picton Road is currently closed in both directions at Cataract, prompting authorities to advise motorists to seek alternative routes and to allow for extra travel time to navigate around the area.
